Welcome back my fellow mixers to another issue of Mixers for you Mixer! For today, we will explore a concoction for our new spirit, Gin. This easy and simplistic mixer is known as “Gin and Juice”.  As its name implies, this combination involves Gin and juice from a variety of fruit. So without further ado, let us create and explore “Gin and Juice”.

For this mixer, the following ingredients are required:

Gin (your preference. For myself, I will choose Bombay Sapphire Gin)
Orange Juice
Grapefruit Juice
Lime

Now let’s get started!

Step #1
Pour 2 oz. of your preferred gin and grapefruit juice, and  3 oz. orange juice in to shaker

Step #2
Fill a highball glass ¾ of the way with ice cubes and the pour into shaker

Step #3
Shake well and pour mixture back into highball glass.

Step #4
Garnish with a slice of lime and serve

This simplistic mixer serves as a great staple at any get-together. I truly enjoyed it. The "Woody" Liquor - Gin

A royal liquor!

Welcome back my fellow mixers to another issue of Mixers for you Mixer! Today, we move forward away from Jagermeister for now and towards a new intriguing spirit. At this point, I thought I was going to be my warpath of rambling on and on all of these great drinks that I get to sample. However, it wasn’t until recently that I realized that I forgot a very important liquor that I would be ashamed not to mention in a blog revolving around mixed drinks.  So without further ado, I would like to present to you all: Gin.

Gin – A brief history

Gin’s origin can be traced as far back as the 11th century.  The first production of Gin was by Italian monks during the era of the Black Plague. It was discovered somewhat by accident when the monks were mixing juniper berries with malted spirits. Despite this, the Dutch physician Franciscus Sylvius has been credited with this liquors creation during the 17th-century.  During the early 18th century, in London, turpentine was used in the combination with the Gin in order to give it a notable “woody” flavor and scent.  In times of prohibition, Gin was the most commonly made spirit simply due to its simplicity to create. These spirits were referred to as “bathtub gins”.

I hope this brief history Gin has gotten your mixing blood rearing to get crazy with this simple liquor. Until next time my fellow mixers…HAPPY MIXING!

The Flaming Nazi

A very HOT recipe!

Welcome back everyone to another issue of Mixers for you Mixer! I would like take a little time aside to thank those individuals who have taken the time to read my posts and/or make posts on them. Every view and comment is the greatest support a blogger could ever receive. Thanks again everyone! Now without further ado, I would like to present to you all the recipe “The Flaming Nazi”. Even though half of the name in this recipe has a bad stigma to it, I guarantee that is not my intentions. Real quick, I do have to say that Jager provides a nice variety of mixers even though they are referred to as shooters. Jagermeister is very unique just being the only liqueur of its kind.

The ingredients needed for this recipe are as follows:

Jagermeister Herbal Liqueur
DuKuyper Hot Damn Cinnamon Schnapps

Now let’s get to mixing!
REMEMBER: Please be sure that both liqueurs are cold before beginning this mixture

Step #1:
Start by pouring 1 oz. of Jagermeister in to a glass.

Step #2:
Pour 1 oz. Dukuyper Hot Damn Cinnamon Schnapps into the along with the Jagermeister

Step #3:
ENJOY!

Like I mentioned earlier in this post, I truly admire Jagermeister for its uniqueness. This recipe definitely delivered. I would have to say the best thing about this drink is the flavor. That licorice taste with a mild bite of cinnamon added to it. I definitely would have to say that this drink a “Hot One”. I would like thank you all for reading. I look forward to moving on from Jagermeister for a while to new interesting liquor. Until next time my fellow mixer…HAPPY MIXING!

The Fire Truck!!!

Welcome back my fellow mixers to Mixers for your Mixer! For todays recipe, I’ll continue onward through mixers based upon the Jagermeister spirit. In the previous Jager recipe, I left a hint to as to what the next mixer was going to be.  Even though the image clearly gives away the name of the mixer away, it’s interesting to find a drink named after the vehicle depicted in the image from the above image. Ladies and gentleman, I give the “Fire Truck” Recipe.

This mixer requires the following ingredients for the are as follows:

Jagermeister Herbal Liqueur
Ginger Ale

Now let’s get read to mix!

Step #1:
Start by adding 2 oz.  of Jagermeister Herbal Liqueur to a highball glass. Ice is optional.

Step #2:
Pour 4 oz. of Ginger Ale into the High Ball glass.

Step #3:
Gently Stir the mixture for a little bit

Step #4:
Serve up and ENJOY!!

This mixer is quite enjoyable. I love hoe the licorice flavor of the Jagermeister with ginger ale to create a small rush of flavor that happens t to be extremely delicious and refreshing. Even though I  do say how unique these drinks are, all of them are truly unique in their own way.  Another variation of this drink is to substitute red soda in place of the ginger ale. If I were to try this one, it would definitely be a strawberry-based drink by Faygo. Well…that bout raps another tasty mixer for ya’ll to go out use at your mixer. I look forward to bringing more drinks form the land of Jager in the future. Remember is you have a unique or favorite drink you would like to see made or reviewed, please feel to leave your suggestion in the the comments bellows in the section “Order Up!” Until next my fellow mixers…HAPPY MIXING!

A small detour - The Greyhound

Off to the bars!!

Welcome back my fellow mixers to Mixers for your mixer! I know that the current theme for the last few mixers has been involving Jagermeister. However, I had a reader mention a different drink that involves Vodka. This will only be small detour on our journey through Jagermeitster So without further ado...I present to you all the “Greyhound” For this simple mixer, you will need the following ingredients:

Grapefuit Juice
Vodka (your preference…for myself, I’ll go with Smirnoff Blue Label)

Step #1:
Start off by pouring 2 oz. of your preferred vodka in to a highball glass with a few ice cubes

Step #2:
Pour 5 oz. of grapefruit juice into the highball glass

Step #3:
Stir well and ENJOY!!

This was a very interesting recipe to come across.  I thought as first that this drink would be little “funky” in terms of taste. However, I was proven quite wrong! Even though there is a minor bitterness to it, this unique drink is very enjoyable. This would definitely be a drink I would recommend having one of in the event of a hangover.  However, I would use a lest potent vodka In addition, the grapefruit adds a more nutritional value to the drink. I would like to give a shout out to Otter Feathers for the suggestion. That’s all I have for you now mixers! Until next time…HAPPY MIXING!

An out of this world mixer!

Even aliens can enjoy mixers!

Welcome back my fellow mixers to another post of Mixers for your Mixer! Last time, I gave you all a little hint as to what the next mixer was going to be. Were you able to figure out what is was. Well it’s finally here. Straight from another world, I give you the Jager shit mixer “A Little Green Man from Mars.”

The following is the list of ingredients needed for this mixer:

1 mint green Maraschino cherry
½ oz Jagermeister herbal liqueur
½ oz Rumple Minze Peppermint liquer

Let’s Go!

Step #1:
Start by removing the stem from the mint green maraschino cherry. Place the cherry into a large shot glass.

Step #2:
Pour in the Jagermeister herbal liqueur and Rumple Minze Peppermnint Liqueur into the shot glass

Step #3:
Serve and Enjoy!

This shot was very interesting to say the least. The refreshing mint taste of Rumple Minze adds to already delicious licorice flavor that the Jagermeister already provides. Even the mint green maraschino cherry adds a little twist to the shot. I have no preference nor care as to having the cherry in it or not. This  refreshing mixer is definitely not one to pass up in my books and I look forward to enjoying more of this out of world shot. I would like to thank you all for reading this post. Until next time, HAPPY MIXING!!

Below you can see a clue to the next drink that is going to be posted. Can you can what this tasty recipe is? ‘Til next time. Later!

The Jager Monster Shot

An addition to any speedy recovery

Welcome fellow mixers to another post of the Mixers for your mixers! Today we continue on journey with the liquor Jagermeister. We’ll focus on an all-time favorite recipe. This Jager mixer is known as the “Jager Monster Shot”. Even though the word Monster is thorn into it, it does not refer to the energy we know as Monster. If fact, there is no energy drink element in to this shot at all. The following is a list of needed
ingredients to create this very tasteful shot:
Jagermeister
Orange Juice
Grenadine Syrup

Step #1;
Pour 1 ½ of Jagermeister, 1 oz. Orange Juice and a splash of grenadine syrup with ice in to a shaker.

Step #2:
Strain the mixture in to a shot glass.

Step #3:
BOTTOMS UP!

Now, let’s discuss the details of this fine mixer. To my surprising, this drink was very delicious. Not only was the smooth rich texture present in this shot, but the flavor as well was rich. I would have normally by-passed this drink because of the common association of having Orange Juice being more of a breakfast commodity but, considering it served as a mixer for the alcohol. I recommend this drink as a recovery or “hair of the dog” for the following day. Well, I hope you enjoyed this week’s drink. Just below is a hint to our next special Jager concoction. Until next toe mixers…Happy Mixing!

The Jager Bomb

Welcome back fellow mixers! Today we begin with a simple Jagermeister special. Today, we will be concocting the favored JagerBomb!  A little known fact about the JagerBomb is that in german-speaking countries, the “Turbojager” or ‘Flying Hirsch” (Flying Stag). Flying is derived from Redbull’s slogan “Red Bull gives you wings” and “Stag” originates in the Jagermeister logo. Also, in Finland, it is called an “Akkuhappo” meaning Battery Acid.

Now onto the mixture!

The following ingredients are needed:

4 oz. of Red Bull
Jagermeister

Step #1:
Pour the Red Bull into a Pub glass

Step #2:
Take a shot glass and pour the Jagermeister into it

Step #3:
Drop the shot glass full of Jager into the glass of RedBull

Step #4;
CONSUME!!

JagerBombs are a great addition to any gathering. As a warning though, please drink this cocktail responsibly. This simply being the fact that you’re mixing a stimulant (Red Bull) and a depressant (jager) at the same time. Doing this has very clashing effect. Before signing out,  one last little fact about the Jagerbomb that I found very interesting.  Originally, the Jagerbomb recipe involved Jagermeister and BEER! I mean…beer and liquor mix!?...Together? Count me out. Glad someone decided to experiment with energy drinks…lol! Well until next mixers, HAPPY MIXING!

The German Blitzkrieg - Jagermeister

Welcome back my followers to another exciting issue of Mixers for your mixer! This week we are temporarily shifting gears from Whiskey moving to a very unique and interesting liquor. Today we’ll take a look into Jagermeister.
Jagermesiter...hmmm delicious

A Brief History

Jagermeister, or better known as Jager, can find its roots across the Atlantic Ocean in Wolfenbuttel, Germany. The history itself starts with Curt Mast.  Curt Mast was a hunting enthusiast. He was the original distiller of Jagermeister. This wondrous liquor was originally developed to be used as a digestif and as a cough remedy.  A digestif is a strong alcoholic drink that is usually served after a meal. The belief is that it helps in the digestion process.
Jager’s Composition

Jager is a type of liqueur called Krauterlikor (meaning herbal liqeur).  In total, there are 56 herbs, fruits, roots, and spices. Some of these ingredients include the following:
  • Citrus Peel
  • Licorice
  • Anise
  • Poppy Seeds
  • Saffron
  • Ginger
  • Juniper Berries
  • Ginseng

Distillation Process

The ingredients contained in Jagermeister are first grounded. Then the grounded mix is then mixed into a container full of water and alcohol from a range of 2 to 3 days. After this time, this mixture is filtered and stored in oak barrels for about a year. When the year has passed, the liqueur is filtered again. After this second filtration process, the mixture is further mixed with sugar, caramel, alcohol, and water. This new mixture is filtered for a third and final time before it is finally bottled.

On a side note, the producer recommends that the liqueur be kept on ice and served cold.  Also, there have been rumors that this spirit contains deer or elk blood in it. However, it’s been proven that it doesn’t. I’m looking forward to creating numerous drinks and sending my taste buds a on a wild and crazy adventure! For my next drink, use the photo below to predict what I have in store for you in the next post. Until next time mixers, Happy Mixing!!

What possible mixed drink could I possibly be coming up with next?

Everyone still getting pickled!

Welcome back my fellow readers to another issue of Mixers for your Mixer! As you may know, the last drink was centered around pickles and a drink called "Getting Pickled". My curiosity got the best and I decided to begin my quest on to find more mixed-drinks that involve pickled juice in some way. After some researching, I came across a similar recipe for it called a Pickletini.

A Pickletini takes a pickled twist on a old-time classic mixer. Try to think of this drink as a martini but with pickle juice alongside of the vodka instead.

Now let's get our mixin started!

The following is a list of ingredients for this mixer:

3 oz. Vodka (I prefer Smiroff or Grey Goose)
2 oz. Pickle Juice
Ice (Crushed)

Step #1;
Place ice into a martini shaker

Step #2:
Pour the Vodka and Pickle Juice in to the shaker. Shake repeatedly several times.

Step #3:
Pour content into a martini glass. Garnish with a dill pickle.

This is a unique drink in every way you can think. Depending on the vodka that is used, this drink can either be smooth or harsh (not too bad). In my opinion, this is one of those that you need to try just experience something new. In that light, I highly recommend to you to at least give this drink a try. Stay tuned for more mixed-drinks coming your way. Next time, we will be taking a look into Jagermeister, the mad bomber of liquor.  Until next, Happy Mixing!

Did someone just get pickled?

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Mixers for you Mixer! Spring Break has come and gone for now, and now is the time to fill you all in on some of the most interesting mix drinks I was able to try while on break. As a sports fan, its only natural to visit a sports bar of some kind during a sporting event. During a hockey game this past week, I decided to meet a few friends at the local Hooter's of Lake Norman, NC. After about a period of play, we decided to start ordering a few drinks. Looking through their mixed-drink menu, I came across shooter that was called "Getting Pickled". At first, I thought this was a some kind of joke, but after asking around, it apparently was real. Considering that whiskey is the drink of the week and kind of a new drink to me, I though I would give it a try.

"Getting Pickled" is a simple shooter that consists of the following ingredients:
Jameson Irish Whiskey
Pickle Juice

Step #1:
Pour a double-shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey into a small glass

A true Irish whiskey

Step #2;
In a separate glass, pour 3 oz. of pickle juice into it.

Just what I like to chase liquor with

From my experience, the Jameson whiskey has such a smooth texture and flavor, it seems a little much to chase it with pickle juice, but it is part of the drink mix. I'm looking forward to finding more interesting mixers out there. Below you can find a small video on Jameson Irish whiskey. Until next mixers, Happy Mixing!

The Tennessee Titan - Whiskey

Welcome back fellow mixers to Mixers for your Mixer! Now we’ve dealt with mixed drinks that revolve around Vodka. Now we’ll take a trip to the heart of the American Appalachians where we’ll get into one of my favorite spirits for any occasion, Whiskey.

A Brief History of Whiskey

The distillation of Whiskey can be dated as far back as 2000 BC in Mesopotamia.  However, aromas and perfumes were distilled instead of alcohol. The distillation of whiskey as an alcoholic spirit didn’t occur until around the 15th century in Ireland and Scotland. Whiskey during this point in time was created for medicinal purposes. During this time, the distillation was still in infancy; therefore, the spirits that were produced were very raw and potent.

Over the centuries, the process of distillation has evolved into something marvelous. Now, even though most whiskey is still very potent in nature, it’s now more refine and smooth in texture.

There is a large variety of Whiskey out there. The following is a  list of the different types of Whiskey available:

  • Malt Whiskey  - Made primarily from malted barley
  • Bourbon Whiskey  - Made from any other type of grains
  • Corn Whiskey – Made from a mash that contains 80% corn
  • Rye Whiskey – Consists of  at least 51% rye
  • Wheat Whiskey – Consists of at least 51% wheat

These varieties, when distilled in America, must be distilled to no more than 80% alcohol by volume and must be aged in new charred-oak casks.

Crown Royal, a smooth and tasteful Canadian Whiskey

Well, I hope you enjoyed the small history lesson on Whiskey. I’m very excited to dive head first into this wonderful alcoholic spirit. Until next time mixers…Happy Mixing!

The Cranberry and Vodka

Welcome back fellow mixers to Mixers for your Mixers! For today's delicious drink, we will visit the simple mixture of Cranberry and Vodka. This simple yet delicious cocktail is usually famous for being consumed by women during "that" time of the month and for the low calories that it has. Another name for this mixture is a Cape Cod (when garnished to a lime).

For this mixed drink you need the following ingredients:

1 oz. of your favorite vodka (for me....Smirnoff Blue Label)
4oz of OceanSpray (or preferred brand) Cranberry juice
1 Lime (optional)

Step #1:
Pour 1 oz. of vodka into a glass filled with a few cubes of ice.

Step #2:
Mix in 4 oz. of cranberry juice

Step #3 (optional):
Place a small wedge of lime on the small rim of the glass to add a little decal to your drink

After mixing the proper ingredients together, you wind up a great addition to any mixer. Once you get a taste of it, you'll experience a great beverage that is memorable yet semi-sweet. This cocktail suitable for those who prefer a solid drink of liquor and those who prefer a fruity drinks. A great addition to this mixed would be to add a cranberry-flavored 7-UP soda twist into this. You simply split the amount of cranberry juice and then add the difference with the 7-UP. It helps put a little extra zing to the mixture. I hope that this post helps you all with your mixer needs. Until next time, HAPPY MIXING!

The Russian Riot - Jello Shots

Welcome back everyone to Mixers for your Mixer! For today's mixture, I've decided to go with a classic staple that will be a great addition to any mixer. Today, we discuss the creation of Jello Shots. For this recipe, you'll the following ingredients:

  • 1 6 oz. of your favotrite flavor
  • 3 - 3 1/2 cups of water  (2 cups boiled, 1 cup chilled)
  • 10 oz. of you favorite brand of vodka, chilled

Follow the steps below to create your own batch of Jello shots:

Step #1:
Add two cups of water to your pot and set it on the burner.

Step #2:
Once the water has come to a boil, take the pot off of the burner. Then add to it your favorite flavor of Jello gelatin and slowly begin to stir. Stir the mixture until the gelatin has completely dissolved.

Step #3:
Once the gelatin has completely dissolved in the water, add in 1 cup of chilled water into the mixture. Still for a least one minute.

Step #4:
Add 10 oz. of your favorite vodka and stir into the mixture.

Step#5:
Pour 1 oz. of the mixture into a 2 oz. ramekin (or preferred size of serving container).

Step #6:
Place tops on the containers and place them in the freezer for 4 hours or until solidified.

After following these steps, you should wind up with delicious jello shots. These scrumptious delights should be a blast at any social event regardless of what flavor you choose to use. If you feel like getting crazy with this mixture, you could always try layering a few of favorite flavors on top of each. All you need to do is repeat the above and slowing layer each one at a time. Thank you for visiting this post and I look forward to any suggestions that you may have for future mixers.

Until then, HAPPY MIXING!!!
